Material and finish selection with real samples of wood, paint, stain, countertops and hardware, so you can choose with confidence in your own light.
A cabinet is made of choices: the wood, the paint or stain, the sheen, the door profile, the hardware and the counter. Each choice affects the others. Looking at real samples, side by side, in your own light, is the best way to decide. Nashville homes have a wide range of light, from bright south-facing kitchens to dim bungalows, and samples show the difference.
We bring samples of wood species, door profiles, painted and stained finishes, hardware and, when helpful, countertop and backsplash examples. We place them against your floors and walls and look at them in morning and evening light. We explain how each material wears and cleans, help you narrow to a few finalists and record your choices in the written scope. Material choices are easier when they are made in a sensible order. We start with the big decisions, such as the door style and the main color, then move to counters, backsplash and hardware. We keep a simple board with your choices, so you can see how everything works together, and we note lead times so you know which items to order first. Decisions made early keep the schedule smooth.
You touch and see actual wood, paint and hardware, not just pictures on a screen.
We view samples at different times of day, because color changes through the day.
We tell you how each material ages and what it takes to keep it looking good.
Selections are written into the scope so nothing is forgotten.
Photos and ideas shared.
Woods and finishes brought.
Morning and evening checked.
Finalists picked.
Counters and hardware tried.
Written into the scope.
Every topic has its own page with what to expect and how we approach it.
